It was on one such patrol on Monday 5th February 2024 late afternoon when our response officer Mabandla Qolo noticed a suspicious person at one of the burned out houses. Upon closer investigation the suspect was seen to have an axe in his hand and he was tampering with the solar panels situated next to the house. When Mabandla approached the suspect, he became defensive and then verbally aggressive towards the security officer. The man also seemed to be under the influence of alcahol.
Mabandla immediately called the control room and requested the police to be dispatched in order to place the suspect under arrest for looting as the man had accumulated several items from inside the burnt house. The control room had also informed the warden of Seafarm, Mr Frank Douglas who came and assisted our security officer. In the interim period the ASK officer kept a watchful eye on the suspect and once the police vehicle had arrived on scene he was placed under arrest and taken to the Kleinmond police station where a charge was officially laid against him. The man is well known to the police and he is expected to appear in court very soon.
Mabandla Qolo has only recently joined our team and this certainly is a very good start to his career in private security and we are all looking forward to seeing some more successes from him in the coming days ahead. - Wayne Kruger
