Arrest made by A.S.K. Security
Between 01h00 and 01h30 on Monday morning, 24 June 2019, an A.S.K. response officer on duty in the Betty’s Bay area, spotted a suspicious motorbike with two individuals on it driving down Porter Drive. Our response staff member followed the motorcycle towards Disa Circle and was assisted by two other ASK security officers who then stopped the motorcycle. The individuals were found with tools in their possession along with some other items of clothing, including a balaclava and gloves which is believed to have been used in house burglaries.
The police were called out to the scene where at least one of the individuals was arrested and taken into custody. After the arrest was made, the security officers patrolled the area and found an Eskom box outside a property that had been forced open, with the electricity switches turned off.
It has become a popular tendency amongst criminals operating in the area to turn off the electricity before breaking into properties.
